Terms of Use

The short version: use GradeGuide to plan your future, but confirm anything that matters with the school or provider directly.

Effective: 7 August 2026 · Last updated: 7 August 2026

1. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using GradeGuide, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

GradeGuide is operated by OJ Studios. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean OJ Studios, and "you" means the person using the service.

2. Who may use GradeGuide

GradeGuide is intended for high-school students, their parents and guardians, and school staff. If you are under the age of majority in your province, you should review these terms with a parent, guardian, or teacher before creating an account.

You need to be at least 13 to create your own account. Younger students may use the service only through a school or with a parent or guardian managing the account.

3. Our guidance is guidance, not a decision

This is the most important section on this page, so we have put it near the top.

GradeGuide estimates admission chances, matches you to scholarships and careers, and answers questions through an AI advisor. All of it is guidance. None of it is an admission decision, an offer of admission, a scholarship award, a guarantee of any outcome, or professional advice.

We are not responsible for decisions made solely on the basis of our estimates, or for opportunities missed because information in the app was out of date.

4. The AI Advisor can be wrong

The AI Advisor is powered by a large language model. Like all such systems, it can produce information that is incorrect, incomplete, or out of date, sometimes stated with complete confidence.

Treat it as a well-informed starting point, not a final answer. For decisions that matter, speak to your guidance counsellor, and check the official source.

Using the AI Advisor sends parts of your profile to our AI provider in the United States. This is explained in full in our Privacy Policy, which you should read before using the feature. Using the Advisor is always optional.

5. GradeGuide is not a counselling service

GradeGuide advises on academics and careers. It is not a mental-health, crisis, medical, legal, or financial service, and must not be relied on as one.

If you are struggling, please talk to your guidance counsellor, a trusted adult, or a crisis service. In Canada, the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline is available by call or text, 24 hours a day, in English and French. If someone is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.

6. Your account

7. Acceptable use

Please do not:

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these rules, particularly where other students' safety or data is at risk.

8. Free and paid plans

9. Your content and ours

Yours stays yours. The information you enter, your marks, goals, plans, and messages, belongs to you. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you: to store it, process it, and send the relevant parts to our AI provider when you use the Advisor.

Ours stays ours. The GradeGuide name, design, software, and content are owned by OJ Studios and protected by copyright and trade-mark law. You may use the service, but not copy or redistribute it.

10. Availability

We work to keep GradeGuide available and accurate, but we provide it on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may occasionally take the service down for maintenance or change features.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Canadian consumer protection law.

11. Closing your account

You may close your account at any time by emailing privacy@gradeguide.ca. We will delete your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or if we stop offering the service. Where we can, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export your information first.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and we will notify you in the app before any material change takes effect. Continuing to use GradeGuide after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. This does not remove any protection you have under the consumer law of your own province.
